Biography
Jérôme Picard is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Fine Art, Music, and Design at the University of Bergen and a founding partner in LOCAL, which focuses on urban and architectural projects related to health and aging. With over 17 years of experience, including key roles in Norway, OMA in the Netherlands, and Dominique Perrault in France, Jérôme moves fluidly between the fields of architecture and urbanism. He leads Greymatter, a research initiative focused on the elderly in urban renewal, integrating health into daily life to envision future compassionate societies. His work in this area has received international recognition and awards. Jérôme holds a master’s degree in urbanism from AA in London and a master’s degree in spatial design from Ecole Boulles in Paris. He recently completed a research fellowship with Pratt University in NYC and has been involved with several reference institutes in Europe.
Jerome is representing KMD Department of Design in the Educational comittee of Interior architecture education in Norway (NILs utdanningskomité). He is deputy representative for Group A to the Department Council for the Department of Design in the period 1 August 2024 – 31 July 2025 (Vararepresentant for Gruppe A til Instituttråd for Institutt for design). He is the member representant for Design of the Committee for research and researcher training (UFF Utvalg for forskning og forskerutdanning)
Jerome is a member of KMD working group for the New European Bauhaus.
